Summary of the Afterlife
The Afterlife is a story about life after death and the journey of a spirit. The story begins when the main character, Chuy, is stabbed in the bathroom for making a remark about a stranger's shoes. The story continues while Chuy journeys around his hometown of Fresno and visits his family and friends. There he meets a fellow ghost named Crystal and possibly falls in love.
The Afterlife tells a wonderful story. It shows that life can end at any moment, so we should not take it for granted. It also shows that, in some cases, we can take what we have for granted until it is gone. In Chuy's case, he takes his parents for granted, and realizes when hes gone how much he really misse them. In the end, The Afterlife is an amazing story of loss, hope, and love.

I definetley think there was a significance in the names associated with the characters. Jesus was the name of the murdered boy, although he was nicknaemad Chuy. He is connected to Jesus because they both died for reasons that do not make sense and should not have happened. Although the names of the father and friend, Maria Jesus and Angel, have significant religious meaning, I believe they don't have any connection to the story told.
I believe they had those names because they are very common Hispanic names. They also are very religous, and they relate to God, heaven and death. Along with the rest of the book. It is also significant because both Chuy and Jesus were innocent when they died
