Summary of the Afterlife
The Afterlife is a story about life after death and the journey of a spirit. The story begins when the main character, Chuy, is stabbed in the bathroom for making a remark about a stranger's shoes. The story continues while Chuy journeys around his hometown of Fresno and visits his family and friends. There he meets a fellow ghost named Crystal and possibly falls in love.
The Afterlife tells a wonderful story. It shows that life can end at any moment, so we should not take it for granted. It also shows that, in some cases, we can take what we have for granted until it is gone. In Chuy's case, he takes his parents for granted, and realizes when hes gone how much he really misse them. In the end, The Afterlife is an amazing story of loss, hope, and love.

Great question Maddy!! I think Chuy saved the homeless man because he didn't want anyone else to go what he was going through. I think that Chuy and the homeless man became friends because, although the homeless man died, Chuy had preserved his life for some time longer.
I think Chuy saved the homeless man and became friends because Chuy has been in similar situations. They both know how bad it is to be left alone. That helps them to connect and befriend each other.
